Piedmont Local Food is an innovative online marketplace where citizens can buy local produce from regional farmers. A delivery service is offered and products are updated online regularly. The website, www.piedmontlocalfood.com, and food service is managed by Rockingham County Local Food Coalition.
Piedmont Conservation Council and the Rockingham County Local Food Coalition hosted “Get a Taste of This,” a family-friendly event on June 30, 2011 in Greensboro. Local chefs created delicious dishes using local ingredients sourced from Piedmont Local Food. Event attendees were able to sample dishes, meet local farmers, and purchase farm products such as produce, jams, jellies, nuts, cheeses, wine, and more. The event also showcased programs and resources in the area that support the local food economy. Grant funding for the event was provided in part by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
